Craft Supply Essentials

There are some craft supply essentials that all crafters need to have in their arsenal. Gathering everything you need can seem a little daunting in the beginning, but you can start collecting items slowly. Eventually, you are sure to have a well-stocked craft cupboard that you can access whenever the desire to be creative strikes.
Paper
From scrapbooking to card-making, paper tops the list of essential craft items. With the increasing popularity of scrapbooking, you can easily find an assortment of papers of different colors and textures at just about any store. Pay careful attention as there are so many gorgeous craft papers available that you may soon find yourself running out of space.
Scissors and cutters
Another must-have craft supply is a good pair of scissors. You probably want to have at least two pairs: one dedicated to paper and another for fabric. An inexpensive paper cutter also comes in very handy. Expect to add to your cutting supplies over time, but these few items are sure to get you started.
Acid-free adhesives
Most craft projects require some sort of adhesive. It is important to look for acid-free glues and tapes, as these can preserve your crafts for the future. A basic craft kit should have glue sticks and double-sided tape, but you can add to your adhesive supplies as the need arises. Eventually, you may want to add sticky dots, decorative corners and other fun adhesives.
Paper, scissors and glue are the basic supply essentials you need to get started in crafting. Include a cabinet or box to organize your supplies, and expect to add to it as your love of crafting grows.
