Plaid Fabric

Plaid fabric is perfect for many projects, especially when the holidays come around each year. One often overlooked use for plaid fabric is in the creation of Scottish clan, or family tartans. The clan tartan is the plaid fabric used to create family banners, kilts, hats and many other accessories. Historically, the more intricate a plaid tartan, the more wealth the family who owned the tartan is said to have possessed. Blue thread is very common in many plaid fabrics; the availability of easily accessible blue dyes made its addition natural to even the lowest-class Scottish clan.
